What are you “confident” in or about?
Parallel Gospel Accounts -
Matthew 26:30-35 - Make a couple of observations
Mark 14:26-31 - Make a couple of observations
Luke 22:39 - Make a couple of observations
John 18:1 - Make a couple of observations
Proposition - As we look to our text this morning we are going to learn about 1) the prediction, 2) the plead, and 3) the proof.
Interrogative question - Where is your confidence?
Keep in mind Matthew 26:23 - as we look to our text this morning.

1. The Prediction - vs. 30-32

Matthew 26:30–32 NASB95
30 After singing a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives. 31 Then Jesus said to them, “You will all fall away because of Me this night, for it is written, ‘I will strike down the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered.’ 32 “But after I have been raised, I will go ahead of you to Galilee.”
What “hymn” might be singing?
They would usually sing Psalms 113-118 - during the Passover meal.
Why do you think Jesus says “you will all fall away?”
What passage is Jesus quoting?
Zechariah 13:7 NASB95
7 “Awake, O sword, against My Shepherd, And against the man, My Associate,” Declares the Lord of hosts. “Strike the Shepherd that the sheep may be scattered; And I will turn My hand against the little ones.
What is the significance of the statement “I will go ahead of you to Galilee?”

2. The Plead - vs. 33, and 35

Matthew 26:33 NASB95
33 But Peter said to Him, “Even though all may fall away because of You, I will never fall away.”
Matthew 26:35 NASB95
35 Peter said to Him, “Even if I have to die with You, I will not deny You.” All the disciples said the same thing too.
Why did Peter respond this way?
If you were in the disciples shoes how might you respond?

3. The Proof - vs. 34

Matthew 26:34 NASB95
34 Jesus said to him, “Truly I say to you that this very night, before a rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.”
What would be going through your mind if Jesus said this to you?
How do we know if this is going to be us when Jesus comes back? Why?
SO WHAT??
Can you say this - “Lord I do not know when the time will be but you will find me ready when you come back for me?”
